Welcome to Skullmirror Arts, works by artist Linda Dowell. Skullmirror Arts seeks to encourage expression without imposing limitation on form or movement. It is needed in order to challenge viewers with discord as well as harmony. More paintings will be put on this site as they are completed. Skullmirror Arts aims to become a collaborative for artists with disabilities who have not had any formal art education. The goal is to invite artists to show their work, both on the Internet and at art shows in Maine. Some may wish to try and sell their art, while others may only wish to participate by having photographs of their art available for viewing on the Internet. Skullmirror Arts is not responsible for any financial record-keeping should an artist in the collaborative sell their art. It is the sole responsibility of each artist to report under whatever guidelines pertain to each citizen of the United States of America.

About the artist:

Linda Dowell grew up on a small family farm in CT in the 1950s, and was a back-to-the land "outsider" in the 60s & 70s. In 1985 she was diagnosed with Meniere's disease which has caused deafness. Even though she had done some painting in the 60s, Linda began again in earnest after working as an advocate for/with people with disabilities in 2003. Most of what you see is recent work. She presently is struggling to complete a Clinical Mental Health counseling program at the University of Southern Maine.
